Design Statement

During the endless, obsessive modern carnival, feelings and relationships between people are dying. The meaning of life is dying too.
Violetta is a typical human being of contemporary times: she lives at the cost of other people. Living inside a carnival parade platform surrounded by mirrors, and on this platform surrounded by a never-ending and pervasive carnival amongst masked crowds.
Love is an unexpected turn of fate in Violetta's world - as true love cannot take place due a perpetual carnival, due to masked faces between unknown “celebrities”. Violetta also lives on a metaphorical shore on a lake. With a backdrop of quiet water and a beautiful sky she experiences her love (act II) and her death (act IV) – love has no chance in this civilisation of fun. Death also wears a mask. She comes and takes people away unnoticed.
Today's world is like a mad carnival, and in this world true love will never be fulfilled.
