I am a freelance theatrical lighting designer now and live in Taipei, Taiwan. I got my MFA from the University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance in lighting design and also an alumni of Taipei National University of the Arts Department of Theatrical Design and Technology. Theatre is a place where people tell and get stories. I, as a lighting designer working particularly in theatres, focus on telling stories in a sense of vision with light and shadow, brightness and darkness with other collaborators. It is not just a job to light people and objects but to draw a picture on stage. Several years ago I started developing the decoration of light or illuminant in theatre by using non-theatrical lighting source such as LED tape with pixel map function, which can create a movement of the light. Recently, I’ve designed some productions, such as “Serenade” “One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Shakespeare Wild Sisters Group, “Queen Xiao-zhuang and Dorgon“ by GaoGuang Opera Company, “Mulan the Musical” by Tainanier Ensemble and Studio M in Resort World Theatre in Sentosa Singapore.
